Vincennes University will Wednesday officially dedicate the new $25 million Updike Hall for Science, Engineering and Mathematics. The three-story hall includes nearly 20 science labs, smart classroom technology and tutoring space.

William Updike and his family donated $2 million to the project. The 1968 Vincennes graduate says the gift is in thanks for the school's part in his career as owner and president of CMA Supply Co. in Indianapolis.

Updike will speak at Wednesday's ceremony. Other speakers include Vincennes President Chuck Johnson and board member Susan Olesik, who is chair of the Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at Ohio State University. She is a 1974 Vincennes graduate.

The school will also offer tours of the facility Wednesday afternoon.
