Indiana State University has selected Janet Buckenmeyer as dean of the Bayh College of Education. Buckenmeyer, who currently serves as dean of the college of education at Armstrong State University in Georgia, will begin her new role July 31.

ISU says, while at Armstrong State, Buckenmeyer led strategic planning efforts, led the reorganization of departments and led the establishment of partnerships with local school districts. She has also published several articles in peer-review journals focused on research areas including distance education, faculty instructional improvement and student achievement, as well as transforming education.

"I am thrilled to have Janet on board. She comes to ISU as a proven leader, and I am confident that she will bring an innovative and creative spirit to the college," said Mike Licari, provost and vice president of academic affairs at Indiana State. "Dr. Buckenmeyer understands the college and university missions, our students and our role in education in Indiana. I am excited to work with her to ensure the Bayh College of Education remains at the forefront of the field."

Brien Smith, dean of the Scott College of Business at ISU and chairman of the search committee says the committee was impressed by Buckenmeyer's "open communication style and collaborative methods for problem solving."
