Indianapolis-based Eli Lilly and Co. has announced Senior Vice President of Corporate Affairs and Communications Bart Peterson is leaving the company to pursue personal business interests. The drugmaker has also promoted Johna Norton to senior vice president of global quality, succeeding Fionnuala Walsh, who is retiring after 28 years at Lilly. Peterson is a former two-term mayor of Indianapolis and joined the company in 2009. Lilly says a search is underway for Peterson’s replacement. Norton, who will begin in her new role in April, is currently vice president of global quality for API manufacturing, product research and development. She has been with Lilly since 1990, holding various positions in quality assurance and quality control. She currently provides quality oversight and direction for Lilly’s API Manufacturing network and Product Research and development organization. Norton holds degrees from Gannon University and Miami University. Walsh joined Lilly in 1988 as a technical services chemist in the company’s Kinsale, Ireland manufacturing site. She became global quality leader at the Lilly Corporate Center in Indianapolis in 2002, and served in multiple leadership positions before joining the company’s executive committee in 2009.
