GRISSOM AIR RESERVE BASE - The 434th Air Refueling Wing at Grissom Air Reserve Base has a new commander. Col. Larry Shaw, who succeeds the recently-retired Col. Doug Schwartz, will take command during a formal change of command ceremony Saturday.

Shaw is a command pilot who completed his pilot training at Grissom in 1997. He has held several positions at Grissom including assistant chief pilot, chief of tactics, chief of mission development and operations officer. Shaw has most recently served as deputy director of air, space and information operations at Robins Air Force Base in Georgia.

As a pilot, Shaw has logged more than 5,700 flight hours. A Grissom spokesperson says he has been deployed to serve in support of Operations joint Endeavor, Iraqi Freedom, Enduring Freedom and more.
