COLUMBIA CITY - The joint venture between Columbia City-based Ultra Electronics Holdings plc and Illinois-based Sparton Corp. (NYSE: SPA) has been awarded multiple foreign contracts worth more than $17 million. The contracts call for ERAPSCO Inc. to manufacture passive and active sonobuoys.

Production of the sonobuoys will take place at Ultra Electronics USSI's facility in Columbia City and Sparton's facility in De Leon Springs, Florida. An expected completion date for the work was not released.

ERAPSCO will provide a $11.5 million subcontract to Ultra Electronics USSI and a $6 million subcontract to Sparton De Leon Springs LLC to complete the work.

Late last month, the joint venture was awarded nearly $54 million U.S. Navy subcontracts to manufacture sonobuoys for the Navy as well. The work from those subcontracts is expected to be completed by September 2017.
