For the fourth time, Indiana Pacers radio broadcaster Mark Boyle has been honored as Indiana Sportscaster of the Year, while Gregg Doyel of The Indianapolis Star is Indiana Sportswriter of the Year.
Boyle is in his 28th season behind the Pacers microphone. He announces home games with former Pacers coach and Basketball Hall of Famer Bobby "Slick" Leonard.
Doyel joined the Star in 2014 and serves as the publication’s sports columnists. He previously served as CBSSports.com’s national columnist.
The association also unveiled winners of its national awards. Mike "Doc" Emrick is 2016 National Sportscaster of the Year award winner. He’s been honored three straight years. The Wabash County is a graduate of Manchester University and has announced hockey for over 40 years at all levels of the sport, nationally and internationally.
