'Hackathon' Pits Indiana Against Texas
Indiana technology developers are in the thick of an interstate "hackathon" designed to create government applications. The "hackINvTX Challenge" is supported by the state of Indiana, TechPoint and the Indy Chamber. TechPoint Chief Executive Officer Mike Langellier says it is uniting the "concentrated creative brainpower" of the state during the three-week competition. The challenge involves creating mobile apps to solve issues identified by the Department of Environmental Management and Department of Homeland Security. During an interview on Inside INdiana Business Television, Indiana Chief Information Officer Paul Baltzell says the state's strategy is to "take on the biggest kid on the block," which happens to be Texas.
The challenge began January 31 and wraps up at the end of the month.
