Richmond Charter School Closes
A charter school in Richmond has closed after appeals to stay open fell through. The Palladium-Item reports the Kenneth A. Christmon STEMM Academy of Richmond lost its charter with Ball State University earlier this year. Board chair Sabrina Pennington says the school was working with Ball State on a turnaround application after its appeal was denied in May. She says the academy never heard back from the university, and the school's charter ran out June 30.
The school, originally called Galileo Charter School, opened in 2005. About 200 students attended the academy by the end of the 2012-2013 school year.
