Yet-to-be-Named Company Could Invest $80M in Greenwood

A company that hasn’t been named publicly is proposing an $80 million investment in Greenwood. "Project Brutus," as tax abatement request filings call the proposal, could involve up to 1,250 jobs by 2022. Indianapolis-based Scannell Properties LLC, which is working with the city on the potential development, has mapped out plans for a 615,000 square-foot distribution hub.
In documents filed with Greenwood, Scannell says the building could be operational within a year and construction could start in October. The filings do not name the company that could locate on the property, but it says it does business in all 50 states. The real and property tax abatement requests total more than $7 million over 10 years.
The equipment planned for the facility includes conveyors, parcel sorters, material handling equipment and scanning and picking technology and the jobs include parcel, fulfillment, administrative and management positions.

In March, FedEx Corp. (NYSE: FDX) announced it was nixing previously-detailed plans for a $259 million small package distribution center that would’ve included more than 450 jobs in the Johnson County city.
