ANGOLA, Ind. – Two businessmen were recently appointed to the Trine University Board of Trustees.
Mike Eikenberry of Fort Wayne, a retired regional bank president in Fort Wayne, and Keith Turner of Naples, Fla., a Trine alum retired from the metal casting industry, joined the board earlier this month.
“We are grateful to have these men join our board,” said Earl D. Brooks II, Ph.D., Trine president. “Their business and industry acumen and expertise are certain to be assets as Trine moves ahead with new programs and the continuous upgrade of facilities.”
Both men were leaders in their respective professions and continue as stewards in their communities.
“For decades, I've known Keith as a business partner and friend. I'm not alone when I say that I look forward to working with Keith and Mike on the Trine board,” said Rick L. James, board chair. “Mike is a proven leader and community supporter. His enthusiasm and dedication will add to the strength of the board.”
Eikenberry retired in 2013 after serving 10 years as regional president of PNC Bank, Fort Wayne. Eikenberry began his career in 1966 in the consumer lending area and transferred to corporate banking in 1974. He advanced to head of corporate lending and in 2003 was named the regional president for PNC Bank.
On July 1, Eikenberry will become dean of the Richard T. Doermer School of Business at Indiana University-Purdue University Fort Wayne, Eikenberry earned a Bachelor of Science degree in business administration from Ball State University, Muncie, Ind. He completed specialized degrees at University of Virginia Graduate School of Consumer Banking, Ohio State University Business School and University of Michigan Business School.
He devotes his time to a variety of organizations and is chair of the English, Bonter, Mitchell Foundation Distribution Committee and a member of the Edward M. and Mary McCrea Wilson Foundation's distribution committee. In addition, Eikenberry serves as a board member of the Auburn Cord Duesenberg Museum, Mad Anthony’s Charity Classic for Children, Salvation Army, Junior Achievement, Lutheran Health Network, Northeast Indiana Regional Chamber and Northeast Indiana Regional Partnership.
Turner is retired from Metal Technologies, Inc., a metal casting and foundry operation with headquarters in Auburn that he cofounded with James, the board chair. A professional engineer, his career was predominantly focused in the management of metal casting, metal processing and ancillary operations of foundries, machining and process optimization activities.
Turner earned a Bachelor of Science in mechanical engineering from Tri-State University, now Trine, and a Master of Science in business administration from Indiana University.
The retired engineer is dedicated to helping youth, especially aspiring engineers. He is alumnus advisor for Trine’s Kappa Sigma fraternity and a past member of the Trine University Metal Casting Advisory Group, the Purdue University Mechanical Engineering Technology curriculum advisory board and the Foundry Educational Foundation.
He is an adult and high school youth instructor in the Catechism of the Catholic Church within the Dioceses of Venice, Fla., and Fort Wayne-South Bend, Ind.
