Tour to Showcase Dairy Industry

A tour to promote the Hoosier dairy industry begins this weekend. The Northern Indiana Dairy Trail involves a dozen farms in Elkhart, Kosciusko, LaGrange, Marshall, Noble and St. Joseph counties.
Participating farms have herds that range in size from 110 to 3,000 cows. Combined, they contain more than one-quarter of all dairy cows in Indiana.
The event allows visitors to talk with farmers about production practices and care and feeding of the herds. It will also feature tastings, children’s activities and displays connected to the state’s Bicentennial Celebration.
Five or six properties on the tour will be open to the public from noon to 5 p.m. June 18-25.
