News Release
INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Today, Governor Mike Pence joined executives from IU Health to officially open the new Health and Wellness Center at the Indiana Government Center. This is the first medical center to be housed at the Government Center.
“The State of Indiana is committed to giving employees the resources they need to take control of their health and well-being,” said Governor Pence. “Having access to the high quality of IU Health conveniently available right where you work is just one more way we are helping employees invest in their health.”
The Health and Wellness Center offers access to the high-quality care of Indiana University Health and is focused on prevention and wellness and provides a variety of services, including preventive care, wellness education, disease education and counseling, health coaching, immediate care, primary care, and other related services. It serves State employees covered under the State of Indiana Health plan.
The Health and Wellness Center is the latest resource available to State employees as Indiana continues down the path towards healthier lifestyles. In 2013, Governor Pence launched Healthy Lifestyles, an online wellness portal, and Castlight, a cost and quality search tool for healthcare, to help employees become better consumers and more engaged in their own healthcare.
By focusing on prevention and wellness, the new center engages employees in making a long-term investment in their health. The Center is offering screenings to educate employees on their numbers and have coaches available to address risks and wellbeing. These coaches can also create action plans to address risks they see in the screening results.
