INDIANAPOLIS, Ind, – St.Vincent Indianapolis Hospital officials announced that Mary Myers will serve as the new chief nursing officer of the faith-based institution.
A seasoned healthcare executive with more than 15 years of clinical leadership experience, Myers will lead nursing operations at St.Vincent Indianapolis, St.Vincent Women’s Hospital, Peyton Manning Children’s Hospital at St.Vincent and the St.Vincent Stress Center. Myers will assume her new duties on June 9, 2014, and report directly to Kyle DeFur, president of St.Vincent Indianapolis.
“I am confident in Mary’s ability to lead our nursing team into the future,” said DeFur. “Her understanding of the Mission and our holistic approach to body, mind and spirit for those who trust us with their care will be imperative as we remain focused on innovation, quality and patient safety. We are excited to have Mary join our health ministry.”
Formerly, Myers served as chief nursing officer and vice president patient care services at Indiana University Health West Hospital. In this role she provided clinical leadership to all inpatient nursing units, emergency department, surgical services, as well as clinical education. She also successfully led the organization to achieve the American Nurses Credentialing Center’s Magnet recognition for nursing excellence.
Myers earned her Master of Science in Nursing Administration from the University of Indianapolis and her Bachelor of Science in Nursing from Indiana University. She is a Certified Executive in Nursing Practice from the American Organization of Nurse Executives, and has completed Lean Six-Sigma training in healthcare. In addition, she has completed the Academy Fellowship Program from the Healthcare Advisory Board.
