Softball Swings Into South Shore

Subscribe NowA series of softball tournaments over the summer is expected to bring about $1 million to northwest Indiana. The South Shore Convention and Visitors Authority estimates the events will attract more than 20,000 softball players, families and fans to the region.
This summer’s tournaments include the National Softball Association Girls Fast Pitch "A" World Series and the International Senior Softball Association. The CVA says participants and fans have already booked nearly 5,000 room nights at area hotels.
Events will run September in cities including Munster, Crown Point, Hammond and LaPorte. The next tournament is the Premier Girls Fastpitch Showdown, which runs from June 10-12 at the Crown Point Sportsplex.
