RV Manufacturing Industry’s Hot Start Continues

The Recreational Vehicle Industry Association is reporting another jump in monthly shipments. The organization, which represents 98 percent of RV producers and suppliers in the U.S., says wholesale shipments increased more than 21 percent in May, compared to the same month last year.
The monthly total of 45,853 shipments moves the year-to-date total to 209,014, which is up from more than 12 percent during the same point last year. The higher numbers, say the RVIA, were driven by a 27.5 percent rise in Type C motorhome shipments and a nearly 20 percent reported increase in conventional travel trailer shipments.
Other increases based on monthly survey results include:
- Year-to-date towable RV shipment totals increase nearly 12 percent to 181,404 units, compared to the same period last year
- Year-to-date motorhome shipment totals increased 15.6 percent to 27,610 units, compared to the same period last year
The Elkhart County Convention and Visitors Bureau says one-half of all RVs on the road today were manufactured in Elkhart County.
