The Gary SouthShore RailCats baseball team has named Brian Lyter general manager. He previously served as the organization's director of sales, before being promoted to assistant general manager last season. October 15, 2014

News Release

GARY, Ind. – The Gary SouthShore RailCats have promoted assistant general manager Brian Lyter to the position of general manager. The announcement was made Wednesday by Pete Laven, president of Salvi Sports Enterprises.

The 2015 season will be Lyter's third on the Southshore and seventh in professional baseball. He came to the RailCats prior to the 2013 season as Director of Sales following four seasons with the Arkansas Travelers, the Double-A Texas League affiliate of the Los Angeles Angels.

“I want to thank to our owners, Pat and Lindy Salvi, and team president Pete Laven for this tremendous opportunity,” said Lyter. “I look forward to continuing to build RailCats baseball throughout the region and bring our great fans an exciting product both on and off the field. Northwest Indiana is a great place to call home, and I am honored to lead its professional baseball team.”

“Simply put, Brian has earned this opportunity,” said Laven, who had added the day-to-day general manager duties of the RailCats to his role with Salvi Sports in 2014. “Since joining the RailCats he has exceeded expectations in his approach to every aspect of the operation while immersing himself in the community like a seasoned veteran.”

Lyter, a native of Buffalo, New York and a 2008 graduate of the University of West Virginia, will become the sixth general manager in the RailCats' 13-year history.
