Purdue University professor Joseph Balagtas has been selected to serve as senior economist to the Council of Economic Advisers in Washington, D.C. He will focus on agricultural and food policy. Balagtas serves as associate professor of agricultural economics. Previously, he was a Fulbright senior scholar and visiting scientist at the International Rice Research Institute in the Philippines.
