Purdue University Calumet has selected Regina Biddings-Muro to be vice chancellor for advancement. She has served in the role on an interim basis since last year. July 22, 2013

News Release

HAMMOND, Ind. – Regina Biddings-Muro has been promoted to vice chancellor for advancement at Purdue University Calumet. In her role, she serves as the primary development, marketing and communications strategist for the campus.

The East Chicago native, Merrillville resident and Purdue Calumet alumna was appointed the previous year as interim vice chancellor. She oversees the areas of fundraising, alumni affairs, special events, marketing and university relations.

“Regina is an accomplished, results-oriented higher education leader whose diverse experience in building relationships with key constituencies will help our Advancement team move Purdue Calumet forward,” Purdue Calumet Chancellor Thomas L. Keon said in announcing her promotion. “Our ability to cultivate funding support, build a consistent vision of our university brand through effective marketing strategies, advance defining and impactful messages, and engage our alumni in proactive ways calls for the type of energetic leadership that Regina provides.”

Biddings-Muro joined the Purdue Calumet administration in 2004 as executive assistant to the chancellor for engagement to previous Purdue Calumet Chancellor Howard Cohen. Professionally, she also has served as a director of communications and community relations at Northern Indiana Public Service Company (NIPSCO), an executive in sales and communications at the former Inland Steel Co. (now Arcelor Mittal) and as a broadcast journalist.

“Serving Purdue Calumet in this role presents the opportunity to strengthen the university's relationships with the alumni, donors and friends of Purdue Calumet who have played key roles in the development of our campus, as well as identify opportunities for new partnerships,” Biddings-Muro said. “In particular, it is personally gratifying to extend my sincere appreciation to each and every individual, organization, and foundation that continues to invest in the success of Purdue Calumet.”

Biddings-Muro earned Purdue baccalaureate and master's degrees in Communication at Purdue Calumet. She is pursuing a doctoral degree in Higher Education and Organizational Change at Benedictine University in Lisle, Ill. She was recognized at the 2013 Influential Women in Northwest Indiana event as the “Up and Coming” influencer in the Education category.
