Purdue University has named Frank Blalark registrar. He has been serving as director of the Office of the Registrar at the University of Minnesota- Twin Cities since 2008. September 11, 2013

WEST LAFAYETTE, Ind. – Purdue officials announced that Frank Blalark from the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities will be the new university registrar.

“Frank Blalark brings a wealth of experience in complex systems and leveraging data and technology to make business process improvements and enhance student success,” said Pamela T. Horne, associate vice provost for enrollment management and dean of admissions. “His vision and expertise will lead an office that is known for continuous improvement, campus and system-wide collaboration and provision of excellent service to students, faculty and staff.”

The appointment is effective Nov. 1. Currently, Lesa Beals, senior associate registrar, is serving as interim.

Blalark has served as director of the Office of the Registrar at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities since 2008, where he is responsible for all aspects of academic records, operational reporting and the implementation of an online academic advising system. He also had responsibility for leading the implementation of the academic record system at the university's Rochester campus. As a frequent presenter at state and national conferences, Blalark contributes scholarly and analytical insight to the changing landscape of higher education services and administration, Horne said.

“I am grateful to the Purdue community for this great opportunity,” Blalark said. “I look forward to supporting the entire university and the Office of Enrollment Management vision of providing excellent service, leadership, coordination and evaluation for pre-college preparation and outreach, recruitment, transition and student success at Purdue University. I look forward to partnerships throughout Purdue and becoming a member of the Boilermaker family.”

Prior to his role as director in the office of the registrar at the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities, Blalark held positions at the university as an associate director in the registrar's office and director in student services. He joined the University of Minnesota – Twin Cities after positions at South Dakota State University in admissions and University of St. Thomas in campus life. He has a bachelor's and master's degree from South Dakota State University and a doctorate degree from University of Minnesota – Twin Cities. Source: Purdue University
