News Release

Indianapolis, Ind. — Governor Mike Pence today signed legislation aimed at shrinking government and improving transparency.

“Hoosiers hold their state and local governments to high standards, and Indiana is committed to exceeding their expectations,” said Governor Pence. “Since day one, we have worked to ensure efficiency, accountability and transparency for taxpayers, and the legislation I sign today will continue to promote a government of which Hoosiers can be proud.”

The Governor signed the following agenda bills today:

• HEA 1005, a government reduction bill that eliminates a number of outdated, unnecessary, and overly burdensome programs and regulations.

• HEA 106, which creates an online transparency portal for Hoosier taxpayers and policymakers to access information regarding local governments’ financial health and performance.

• HEA 225, a cleanup bill that streamlines a number of state administrative functions and clarifies regulations governing the budget process and public-private agreements.

• HEA 338, which protects the fiscal integrity of the State by ensuring the independence of the State Board of Accounts and its financial audit processes.

The Governor also signed a number of other bills today. Learn more by visiting Bill Watch: http://www.in.gov/gov/2014billwatch.htm.
