Organizations Partner to Boost Minority STEM Involvement

Two organizations focused on engaging minority students in science, technology, engineering and math fields are joining together. The Minority Engineering Advancement Program at the School of Engineering and Technology at IUPUI and the Minority Engineering Program of Indianapolis have announced an agreement that involves sharing resources, increasing collaboration and coordinating complementary activities.
MEAP at IUPUI focuses on technical experience from an academic perspective throughout the summer, while MEPI’s industry-led programming works with students in the fall and spring. Purdue School of Engineering and Technology at IUPUI Dean David Russomanno says "we are delighted to partner with the Minority Engineering Program of Indianapolis as we share mutual interests in this endeavor. We will leverage our complementary strengths and resources to better serve and benefit students through both industry experience and exposure to a research academic institution."
The organizations say the partnership will provide a "year-round, holistic experience for students," giving them access to industry and academic research, facilities and expertise in STEM fields.
