Forbes magazine has teamed up with a market research firm to identify the companies most liked by recent college graduates, and only one Indiana institution made the list. The University of Notre Dame is ranked No. 33 out of 250 companies and universities across the U.S.

The top employer on the Forbes list is New Jersey pharmaceutical firm Merck & Co. (NYSE: MRK)

Analytics firm Statista named the companies most liked by new workforce entrants in the annual ranking. The list was compiled by surveying 20,000 Americans with less than 10 years of professional experience working for businesses with at least 1,000 employees.

Forbes says this year’s list is pertinent not only to the class of 2021, but also to last year’s graduates. According to Monster.com, 45% of 2020 college grads are still looking for work.

The publication says many of the graduates are worried they will miss out on professional experiences because they entered the workforce during the pandemic

The respondents were asked to rate their employers on a variety of criteria, including the safety of work environment, the competitiveness of compensation, opportunities for advancement, among other factors.
