Fort Wayne Mayor Tom Henry is requesting more than $2 million from the city's Legacy Fund. Our partners at WPTA 21Alive report the money would be used for winter preparations. The mayor is also seeking approval for state and federal disaster relief money that would be used to reimburse the fund. The Legacy dollars would be transferred to the street department.

21Alive says $500,000 is usually budgeted to handle preparations, but last winter cost the city $2 million.

The proposal is slated to go before the council Tuesday.
