Indianapolis Mayor Greg Ballard has declared May 20th David Letterman Day in the city. The Indianapolis native is hosting his final show tonight after more than 30 years at the desk of the 'Late Show' on CBS. Some of the guests on this week's show have included Tom Hanks and Bill Murray. The final Late Show with David Letterman will air Wednesday night.

Letterman graduated from Broad Ripple High School and Ball State University.

“The city's number one reason on its Top Ten List for “Why David Letterman will be Missed on the Late Show” is his lifelong connection to our city as a favorite son who we wish all the best in retirement,” Mayor Ballard said.
