Martin University Set For Ed School Launch

Martin University in Indianapolis is set to detail a new school of education Thursday morning. The university currently offers 13 bachelor’s and two master’s degree programs.
Martin’s undergraduate programs are in accounting, addiction studies, applied sciences, biology, business administration, criminal justice, industrial management, early childhood education, liberal arts, psychology, religious studies, social science and sociology. Graduate programs are in community psychology and urban ministry.
Thursday’s announcement also includes the launch of the Martindale-Brightwood Education Zone in the university’s home neighborhood. Attendees will include President Eugene White, Mayor Joe Hogsett, Congressman Andre Carson (D-7), Indy Chamber President Michael Huber and several other education stakeholders.
Since its founding, the school’s goal has been to educate "traditional and non-traditional students in an inclusive, supportive and healthy collegiate environment." It’s considered the state’s only Predominately Black Institution.
