Manufacturer Hiring in The Region

Michigan-based Lear Corp. (NYSE: LEA) will hold a hiring event Thursday in Lake County. Our partners at The Times of Northwest Indiana report the auto component manufacturer is looking to fill 200 positions at its Hammond and Portage operations. Last year, the company detailed $7.1 million plans to open an operation in Portage.

A Lear Corp. spokeswoman tells the publication the jobs are for sub-assemblers of car seat parts at the Portage plant.

Organizers of the event include the Office of Mayor Thomas McDermott and the Mayor's Office of Economic Development.
