Construction has begun on a new $20 million Lindal North America Inc. facility in Columbus. The company, which manufactures components for aerosol products, is owned by a German parent and currently has three other facilities in Bartholomew County.
Greater Columbus Economic Development Corp. Executive Director Jason Hester says the flagship operation is part of intentional efforts aimed at attracting foreign direct investment.
Lindal North America says the 100,000 square-foot facility and investment will retain 65 jobs and create 30 more. The new positions are expected to pay an average of up to $24 per hour. The company’s current operations are in Columbus and Hope, encompassing 70,000 square-feet. The new building will be located on 15-acres in the Woodside Industrial Park and include manufacturing, research and development, warehouse and office space.
Lindal Group Global Marketing Director Philip Brand says "our new Columbus campus will be the right facility, in the right place, at the right time. We anticipate the need for integrated and centrally-located resources for our wide range of U.S. customers, as demand here continues to grow. Our new Columbus facility is another example of our strength as a customer-facing organization that speeds package development and delivers unsurpassed aerosol knowledge."
The Greater Columbus Economic Development Corp. says production in Columbus for Lindal North America first launched in 2008. Indianapolis-based The Peterson Co. LLC will build the facility and construction could be complete by the end of the year.
