Thousands of library professionals from throughout the world are in Indianapolis for the Public Library Association 2014 Conference. The five-day event will feature professional development sessions, technology demonstrations and a keynote speech by humorist and author David Sedaris. INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Join American Library Association President-Elect Courtney Young, Indianapolis Public Library CEO Jackie Nytes and other civic representatives for the signing of the cornerstone document in the ALA initiative to build public will and sustained support for libraries.

This ceremony will be the launching point to encourage local citizens to sign and affirm their right for vibrant libraries in the community.

This event is being held as the library industry's major conference, Public Library Association '14, is taking place March 11-15 in Indianapolis featuring over 5,000 library representatives from around the world.

This will be an opportunity to focus on issues facing the library industry in light of The Indianapolis Public Library's current strategic planning process to define the Library’s role in the community for the years 2015-2020.
