Lyness will finish out what’s left of McMillin’s District 68 term in the Indiana House of Representatives.
Lyness is currently Dearborn County Council president. McMillin resigned from the House last month. Lyness beat out three others during a caucus comprised of precinct committee members Thursday night in Brookville.
The district covers all of Union County and portions of Dearborn and Franklin counties.
Lyness and the rest of the House and Senate members will begin the legislative session on the first official day of the 2016 General Assembly, known as Organization Day, November 17.
