After close to 45 years on the radio in the Wabash Valley, Barry Kent is retiring. His last day on HI-99/WTHI in Terre Haute is Wednesday. He started at the station in 1983 after stints with several others in the market. Kent was inducted into the Country Radio Hall of Fame in Nashville in 2011. During his tenure in management and on-air at HI99, the station was routinely rated highest in the market.

In a blog post, Kent says HI99 had the highest market share of any country music station in the U.S in 2010.
