Indianapolis-based LIDS Sports Group is teaming up with an Emmy Award-winning director. Spike Lee will be in Indianapolis today for a video shoot at the LIDS location in the Circle Center Mall. LIDS says the commercial will feature how the company is transforming the city into "Captown USA."
Lee’s company, 40 Acres & a Mule Filmworks, produces films, television shows, documentaries and commercials. The director of "Do The Right Thing" and She’s Gotta Have It" has produced more than 35 films since 1983. Lee is still a visible presence in the stands of New York Knicks games in Madison Square Garden, a role that gained him infamy among Indiana Pacers fans during the height of the teams’ rivalry in the 1990s and early 2000s.
Last year, LIDS opened its $20 million new headquarters in Zionsville, which houses more than 400 employees.
