LaPorte Community Schools Corp. has chosen Mark Francesconi as its new superintendant. Our partners at The Times of Northwest Indiana report he has served as associate superintendent for the past four years. Before coming to LaPorte Community Schools, Francesconi worked as a principal and assistant superintendent in Michigan City.

He says vocational and virtual learning will bbe among his priorities. Francesconi succeeds Randy Thorpe, who was arrested earlier this year on gambling-related charges.
