Kokomo to Announce Downtown Investment

The city of Kokomo will announce a major mixed-use redevelopment project next week. Officials say the project represents the largest downtown investment in Kokomo’s history.
Mayor Greg Goodnight and representatives from the development firm, will make the announcement Monday at 11:00 a.m. at City Hall.
In the last few months, there have been several development announcements in Kokomo. Indiana University Kokomo plans to open an art gallery downtown and Chicago-based Vermilion Development plans to build a $20 million assisted living facility at a former downtown lumberyard.
City officials have been focused heavily on downtown revitalization efforts. A $16 million YMCA could open by the end of the year or early next year. It is part of an approximately $27 million overall project that includes nearly three dozen apartments and a 400-space parking garage.
