A jobs announcement is set for Thursday morning in Shelby County. The Indiana Economic Development Corp. says it involves plans for a leading agricultural equipment company to relocate to Shelbyville.

The announcement will include Governor Mike Pence and Shelbyville Mayor Tom DeBaun. No further details on the economic development have been released.

In October, the Indiana Office of Community and Rural Affairs added the 185-acre Tindall Property to its Indiana Shovel Ready Silver list. The parcel is located off of I-74 and is divided by State Road 44.

One ongoing project in Shelby County is an expansion announced last year by Freudenberg-NOK in Morristown. The company, which employs nearly 270, plans to add around 75 workers over five years.

The area’s economic development leadership has shifted since the start of the year. Longtime Shelby County Development Corp. Executive Director Dan Theobald retired and Brian Asher has taken over.

Nearly two years into the steepest increase in interest rates in over 40 years, can we now say we've achieved a soft landing? Or is this a delayed economic response with a 2024 recession certain to come?...
