News Release

FORT WAYNE, Ind. – The impressive list has been narrowed down to seven innovative companies competing for the prestigious 2013 Greater Fort Wayne Business Weekly Innovator of the Year Award. The award honors companies and entrepreneurs who have developed innovative businesses, products or services in northeast Indiana. Those competing for the top prize represent seven distinct categories and will be judged by a panel of distinguished northeast Indiana business leaders and entrepreneurs. The 2013 Innovation Awards category winners are:

Emerging Company – Engine Research Associates, Jeff Erickson

Health Care – Senior Lifestyle (DBA, Harbour Assisted Living)

Retail – Rudy's, Rudy Mahara II

Manufacturing & Engineering – Tuthill Corporation, Tuthill Engineering

Professional Services – GMS Distribution, Gerrett Stier

Real Estate, Construction & Design – 3Rivers Federal Credit Union

Final presentations from the category winners will be made to this year's panel of judges: Don Steininger, Steininger Development; Julia Fiechter, Lendingahand.net; Terry Housholder, KPC Media Group; Mike Fritsch, Northeast Indiana innovation Center; and Bill Nicholson, ENS Group.

“The judges expressed how extraordinarily difficult it was to determine the category winners this year,” said Terry Ward, COO of KPC Media Group, which publishes the Greater Fort Wayne Business Weekly. “The next round of judging should prove to be even more challenging as they determine the 2013 Innovator of the Year. The Awards luncheon on November 7th will be an outstanding opportunity for area entrepreneurs and business leaders to come, listen and learn about some of the exciting innovation going on in northeast Indiana. Each of the category winners will be featured and, of course, we'll honor the Innovator of the Year.”

The Innovation Awards will be presented at a luncheon event at the Landmark Centre on November 7, 2013 at 11:30 A.M. with featured keynote speaker, Karl LaPan, president and CEO of the Northeast Indiana Innovation Center. Tickets are $25 per person or a table of eight for $175 and can be purchased at FWbusiness.com. Hurry, the deadline for reservations is October 30th.

A special publication featuring the award winners will be included in the November 8-14 issue of the Greater Fort Wayne Business Weekly.

The presenting sponsor for the 2013 Innovation Awards is ENS Group. The event sponsors are PHP, Lake City Bank, Sweetwater, Keyflow Creative, Star Bank and Northeast Indiana Innovation Center.
