INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Beginning during the height of winter, Central Indiana travelers will enjoy three new options for reaching sunny Florida, when a new airline enters the Indianapolis market. Starting February 11, Allegiant Airlines will operate nonstop flights between the Indianapolis International Airport (IND) and St. Petersburg–Clearwater International Airport (PIE), which is near Tampa Bay, St. Petersburg, and Clearwater; Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB), which is 50 minutes or less from the main Orlando-area attractions as well as Daytona Beach; and the Punta Gorda Airport (PGD), which is located between Fort Myers and Sarasota.
The airline's entrance to the IND market will also include nonstop flights to McCarran International Airport in Las Vegas.
All three Florida routes will be unique additions to IND’s route map, further enhancing a level of air service at IND that outperforms many comparable airports.
The Allegiant routes join existing nonstop service between IND and Florida that includes service to Fort Lauderdale-Hollywood International Airport (FLL), Orlando International Airport (MCO), Miami International Airport (MIA), Southwest Florida International Airport (RSW), and Tampa International Airport (TPA).
IND is also currently served by nonstop flights to Las Vegas. Including seasonal service, the new Allegiant flights will bring to 37 the total number of scheduled nonstop destinations served from IND for 2015, the highest total since 2009.
“The launch of Allegiant Airlines operations at IND will directly benefit consumers through increased competition and new flight options,” said Michael Wells, president of the Indianapolis Airport Authority board of directors. “While new air service is always a positive for the communities IND serves, the addition of popular destinations by an airline new to the IND market is especially noteworthy given the national airline industry's continued pursuit of consolidation and reduced competition.”

Allegiant nonstop service start dates are as follows:
-Service to Punta Gorda Airport (PGD) – begins Feb. 11, 2015
-Service to Orlando Sanford International Airport (SFB) and St. Pete Clearwater International Airport (PIE) begins Feb. 12, 2015
-Service to Las Vegas McCarran International Airport begins Feb. 27, 2015.
The Florida routes will each operate four times weekly, and flights to Las Vegas will operate three times weekly. Flight days and times can be at Allegiant.com.
