Indiana Secretary of Commerce Victor Smith says a string of new air service announcements in Indiana illustrates the state's economic strength. Southwest Airlines Co. (NYSE: LUV) today announced new nonstop service from Indianapolis to Boston and Los Angeles beginning in June. Smith says economic expansion “relies on air service,” and the new options will allow companies more access to potential customers, employees and board members. Smith says the momentum is not building solely in Indianapolis. Airports in South Bend, Fort Wayne and Evansville have added or increased services to cities including Newark, Atlanta and Philadelphia.
