IND Reaches Record For Nonstops

A new flight at Indianapolis International Airport pushes the nonstop route total into record territory. Executive Director Mario Rodriguez says the Southwest Airlines Co. (NYSE: LUV) flight to Oakland International Airport, making 49 nonstops, will not be the last. Rodriguez adds "from our view, there is more to come – and Southwest has been a key contributor to getting us to this point today."
More Southwest nonstops, 21, fly from IND than any other carrier. "They’ve made considerable investment in Indianapolis over the past four years, increasing fights leaving out of Indy by almost 70 percent since 2014," Rodriguez said. The company also announced extended or increased flights for next year’s summer travel season, including San Diego, Fort Lauderdale and Orlando.
The new, year-round, nonstop to Oakland will launch July 15. Earlier this year, Southwest has also recently added nonstops including Cancun International Airport, Austin-Bergstrom International Airport and San Diego International Airport.
