Illinois Company Buys Retriever Merchant Solutions

Illinois-based Payroc WorldAccess LLC, a global payment processing company, has acquired Retriever Merchant Services Inc. in Munster. Retriever, which bills itself one of the largest independent sales organizations of Florida-based FIS Global, employs 60 people and services 30,000 merchants in the retail, wholesale, and professional association industries, among others.
Retriever President Brian Kamstra, who founded the company in 1994, will remain in his leadership role.
“We built a top-notch sales distribution platform, but to stay competitive, we needed the right processing partner to take our technology and product offerings to the next level,” said Kamstra. “We found that, and more at Payroc. When you combine those specific needs with Payroc’s impeccable integrity, we knew we had found the right home.”
Payroc says it is planning to launch the partnership by focusing efforts in multiple strategic areas, including common sense underwriting and risk management, modern APIs, global device connectivity, and Payroc’s flagship Consumer Choice program. The acquisition also includes access to Payroc’s engineering & innovation hub in the United Kingdom, where Payroc announced it would create 75 new jobs.
With the acquisition, Payroc says it will expand to over 100,000 merchants. Financial terms of the deal were not disclosed.
