Hoosier Tech Scene to be on Display in San Fran
The state and eight young companies that make up its growing technology scene will be showcased next month as part of a high-profile industry event in California. The TechCrunch Disrupt SF Conference will draw marketers, job seekers, founders and investors from the nearby Silicon Valley and beyond to the three-day gathering. The Indiana Economic Development Corp. and startup accelerator gener8tor, which is parent organization of gBETA Indy, are partnering on an Indiana-focused pavilion in the conference’s Startup Alley.
gBETA Indy Director Chelsea Linder says the conference will get the state and its startups access to a new audience. "It’s huge," she said. "Not only is it an opportunity for us to put Indiana on a national stage with startups from all over the world, but it’s also just a big event with a lot of people and so we’re really excited to have this opportunity, especially because we’re the only state that has a pavilion."
gBETA Indy was launched earlier this year and five startups that went through the inaugural cohort will be part of the Indiana presence. The first cohort started in April. Last year’s TechCrunch Disrupt event attracted 5,000 attendees and featured 1,220 investor-founder meetings and 500 exhibiting startups. Startup Alley is the conference’s exhibition area and those located there must be pre-Series A-funded companies.
