An Indianapolis baker is set to appear next week on a nationally-televised food entrepreneur show. Tekisha Collins will pitch her “Smoogy” frozen cookies to a panel of experts on Lifetime's “Supermarket Superstars.” Contestants will vie for a nationwide distribution deal. August 5, 2013

News Release

INDIANAPOLIS, Ind. – Tekisha Collins of Indianapolis will take her frozen cookie, the Smoogy, to Lifetime's new hit show, Supermarket Superstars appearing as a contestant August 15, 2013 at 10:30pm.

Collin's has received much attention since arriving on the set of Supermarket Superstars. LA's Foodbeast.com rated her frozen cookie one of the five top “coolest” dishes showcased this season. While in Chicago competing for her big break, she sailed through the casting calls by sharing her delicious creation with producers who immediately selected her as a contestant.

She will prepare her popular Smoogy for celebrity Chef, Vintner, specialty foods pioneer Michael Chiarello and America's cookie mogul, Debbie Fields along with branding expert Chris Cornyn who serve as mentors for Collins and other home chefs competing to win product placement on supermarket shelves nationwide.

About Collins:

A wife and mother of two with an entrepreneur spirit, Collins put an amazing twist on a

100 year-old family recipe turning it into a reality show sensation. After losing her job, Collins decided she had to come up with a way to help provide for her family. She has spent over two years attempting to produce her frozen cookie delight, the Smoogy, which was named by her son. Supermarket Superstars may just be the door that opens all possibilities for Collins and her tremendously delicious SMOOGY creation.

About Supermarket Superstars:

Like ABC's “Shark Tank,” each episode's winner will receive an investment in their product, plus a chance to return for the season finale. The surviving contestants must create professional packaging to present their product to Tom Dahlen, buyer for the Great Atlantic & Pacific Tea Company (A&P) who will determine the winner of each episode. The last cook standing will be rewarded $10,000 in prize money and $100,000 worth of product development. For the Supermarket Superstar finale, three winners from the season will be invited back to compete for the grand prize by presenting their product to A&P CEO, Sam Martin, with the hope their dream will be realized when their product is launched in A&P supermarkets and their affiliated chains nationwide.
