Former United States Attorney Joe Hogsett has told our partners at WTHR-TV he will form an exploratory committee to look into a run for Indianapolis mayor. He began a role earlier this month as a partner in Bose McKinney & Evans LLP's litigation practice group. Hogsett served as the United States Attorney for the Southern District of Indiana from 2010-July 2014.

In that time, he says the office set new records for the number of defendants charged and total number of criminal convictions. Hogsett says the office also led the nation in average length of sentences imposed on criminal defendants.

The U.S. Department of Justic has named Josh Minkler acting U.S. Attorney for the district.
