Company Connects With ‘Future Speed Geeks’

Cloverdale-based Endeavor Communications has launched a high school apprenticeship program for students interested in telecommunications and computer technology fields. The company says the "Future Speed Geeks" initiative gives students experience they can’t receive in the classroom. Chief Executive Officer Darin LaCoursiere says the program is the first of its kind in the country. It’s named for the nickname Endeavor Communications calls its technicians.
"This new program is about exposing students to technology problem-solving in hopes that we are deepening the talent base to keep our community ahead of the curve technology wise," LaCoursiere said. "Real world technology experience will insure that our students are better equipped to move on to their next level of education or to begin a career in the IT industry directly after high school." He adds that he hopes the program will teach the students about the importance of service to others. "We are excited about the potential positive impact it could have."
Cloverdale High School business instructor Patrick Rady says, by shadowing Endeavor employees, the students gain practical knowledge. "Our students will be working with the latest in cutting-edge technology and will gain experiences that they can’t receive from a textbook," he said. "Not only will the students learn new technology skills, they will also be able to pass along those skills to other community members!"
The program involves monthly meetings at Endeavor’s headquarters and participation in the company’s "Speed Geeks" help desk initiative, which includes free tech monthly tech support sessions for the community.
