Heckler Signs on For Five More Years at Valpo

A new agreement with the Valparaiso University board of directors will keep President Mark Heckler at the school for another five years. Heckler has been with the university since 2008 and the new deal runs through June of 2021.
The extension comes as the $250 million Forever Valpo: The Campaign for Our Future continues. Earlier this month, the school announced it has secured more than $135 million toward the ambitious effort.
Board Chairman Frederick Kraegel says "President Heckler has led Valparaiso University’s enrollment growth, new program development, campus expansion, and the implementation of the most comprehensive and ambitious strategic plan in Valpo’s history. We are extremely fortunate to have Mark at the helm as the University has launched an endowment campaign to secure its future."
Prior to his tenure at Valpo, Heckler served in various leadership roles at the University of Colorado Denver. He has a Ph.D. in educational leadership and innovation from the University of Colorado, an MFA in drama from Catholic University in Washington D.C. and a B.A. in communications from Elizabethtown (Pa.) College.
