Chief Executive Officer John Gause says the goal of the 2017 Indiana Medical Benchmarking Survey is to arm employers with data to make better strategic decisions on the health care needs of their company.
The results show trends Apex Benefits says are impacting the employee benefits marketplace. They are:
- Costs for employers and employees continue to rise
- Prescription drug costs increase faster than medical care costs, wages, and cost of living
- Employers offer more choices in medical plans
- Telemedicine is on the rise
- Employers shop for provider value
- Quality of care takes on greater importance as a cost control measure
- Companies embrace wellness
Respondents to the benchmarking survey cover insurance for more than 155,000 employees, spending approximately $2 billion on health care.
