Growth Follows Company From California to Fishers

The company has been in central Indiana a little more than a year.

The founder of a multimedia company in Fishers says relocating from California to Indiana has been a boon for business. Memory Ventures Chief Executive Officer Anderson Schoenrock says the cost of operating his digital conversion business became unsustainable out West, so the company moved to the Hamilton County city in 2014. During an interview on Inside INdiana Business Television, Schoenrock said growth came quickly as Memory Ventures doubled its hiring target with 36 new employees last year. He added that Fishers has delivered a deep pool of talent and a focus on entrepreneurship.

The company was founded in 2007 as Scan Digital and has morphed over the years through growth and acquisitions to become Memory Ventures. It focuses on digitizing film, photos and other media that have a shelf-life. The company’s portfolio of brands includes Home Movie Depot, Larger Than Life Prints, Artsy Canvas, Ultra Murals and BiographyNOW. It has previously been featured twice each on the Inc. 500 and Deloitte Fast500 lists.

"If you look at Indiana, the cost of doing business is attractive here, the cost of living for employees is really attractive. The access to a deep talent pool, and our business requires a broad spectrum of types of employees, so we felt like Indiana met those needs," said Schoenrock. He said Mayor Scott Fadness and Launch Fishers Chief Executive Officer John Wechsler also presented the city’s vision of growth with "entrepreneurship at the center." Schoenrock says the company chose Fishers of six or seven other potential locations.

Schoenrock says he has already added workers this year and will continue to pay employees what he paid in California.
