Groundbreaking Set For Final Oxbow Landing Parcel

Construction on the final parcel in a high-profile Hammond property will ceremonially begin Tuesday in Lake County. City and ATG Real Estate Development LLC officials will gather for a groundbreaking on $8 million office and retail buildings at Oxbow Landing near the Indiana Toll Road. The area was once the site of River Park Apartments, a crime-ridden complex that was demolished in 2006.
Nearby parcels include an office building similar to the one planned in the final phase, Byway Brewing Co., hotels and a BW3 restaurant. The project will include some 36,000 square feet of office space and four outbuildings designed for retail or restaurant space totaling between 12,000 and 18,000 square-feet. Construction is slated to take about a year.
Mayor Tom McDermott says "our economic development team has worked hard over the past 14 years to bring new development to Hammond. With our initial $20 million investment in the Oxbow Landing Development area, we have reaped $46.5 million in commercial development and thus far 120 new employees."
The public groundbreaking ceremony will take place Tuesday at 2 p.m. at 2901 Carlson Drive in Hammond.
