A soccer tournament at Grand Park in Westfield this weekend is expected to have an economic impact of more than $1 million. The second annual Grand Park Soccer Tournament will feature 250 youth teams from Indiana, Illinois, Kentucky and Ohio.
Organizers expect the tournament to draw 14,000 visitors and result in around 2,000 hotel stays. Games take place all day on Saturday, September 5 and Sunday, September 6.
The tournament is hosted by the Indiana Fire juniors. Executive Director Mark Webber says he is happy for the event to call Grand Park home. In a release, he said, "Visitors consistently rave about the quality of the facility and the surrounding areas. Our club volunteers are happy to share suggestions with visitors for dining out or spending their free time during their stays.”
The 400-acre campus features more than 30 multipurpose fields for soccer, football and lacrosse and 26 baseball and softball diamonds.
