Goshen Coach has been in business since 1985 and has produced some 35,000 light and medium-duty buses currently on the road. It offers four models.
The facility in Elkhart is the smallest of the five listed by the Florida-based parent in its bus and mobility operations. The company says it has one line in a 161,000 square-foot Elkhart County facility.
REV Group is formerly known as Allied Specialty Vehicles Inc. In late-2013, the company announced it was basing its Allied Recreation Group Inc. recreational vehicle division in Decatur following the acquisition earlier that year of the Wakarusa-based lines from Navistar International Corp. (NYSE: NAV). That same year, ASV pulled out of the towable recreational vehicle market and closed the Monaco RV plant in Elkhart County, leaving a total of 125 workers without jobs. Elkhart-based Thor Industries Inc. (NYSE: THO) later purchased the factory for use by its motor coach division. ASV would later go on to purchase Thor’s bus business for $100 million.
In all, REV Group employs more than 16,000 throughout the country. After the Goshen Coach plant closes, the company’s only presence in the state will be two operations in Decatur: the aforementioned American Coach/ Fleetwood/ Holiday Rambler/ Monaco plant and the Goldshield Fiberglass facility.
