Global Logistics Company Planning Allen County Hub

The Allen County Council has approved tax abatement for a more than $26 million project. Connecticut-based XPO Logistics Inc. (NYSE: XPO) is planning to build a new facility that could employ 75 workers by 2019.
The global transportation and logistics services company has nearly 1,500 locations in 32 countries. Its work force totals more than 50,000.
The proposed 400,000 distribution hub would sit on a shovel-ready property owned by the Allen County Redevelopment Commission.
Management positions involved in the plan would pay an average salary of more than $100,000 and production workers, which make up the majority of the planned openings, would average $38,000 annually.
Over 10 years, the requested abatement would save the company nearly $1.7 million.
The company says keys to considering the Allen County site are land availability, construction costs, customer base and business environment.
XPO plans to begin construction by the end of the year and it could be complete in the third quarter of next year.
